About Wrenbury Village Stores

We have run the village shop in Wrenbury, Cheshire for 18 years during which time we have enlarged and refitted the premises extensively. We live in Wrenbury village and try to support and get involved in as many local events as possible.

We firmly believe that it is important to give back to the community from which we make our living and are delighted to have supported many fund raising events, either by donations of goods or money, raffle prizes and sponsorship of competitions, including events to raise money for, Friends of Wrenbury School, Wrenbury Village Hall, St Margaret’s Church, Aston Cricket Club alongside various other groups.

This year we are pleased to have been able to donate towards the upkeep of St Margaret’s Church Graveyard and Garden of Remembrance. Later on in the year we are jointly arranging a barn dance with proceeds to be split between the church and the village hall. We can usually be seen supporting most village events and most probably in the bar!!

This year Neil is hoping to complete the Great Northern run and will be raising money in aid of Scope. He will be running with Joe, the landlord of The Cotton Arms in Wrenbury who is running in aid of MacMillan.

As we are a Spar store we are able to offer some very competitive deals which are changed each month. The wine and beer offers are particularly good and every month there are MEGA deals which are comparative with supermarket offers.

Summer 2015

We have had an active first 6 months of the year carrying out lots of improvements to the shop and forecourt. We are delighted with the new railings and walkway in front of the shop which now allows customers to walk in front of the shop safely and not behind parked cars.

The front of the shop is now looking extra smart and the hanging baskets are looking wonderful – a lovely place to sit and enjoy a coffee or ice cream to watch village life pass by!

Alterations inside the shop are ongoing with the “food to go” area to be finished soon. We have been able to secure a post office grant to help support the shop and post office and this has enabled us to buy a new large chiller which is now in place. The Post Office are very keen to support the rural offices which have shops attached – by keeping the shop active and busy helps keep the post office open and vice versa.

We are also currently updating our CCTV system and then finally this year are looking at renewing the awning at the front of the shop.

We employ 10 staff members, all from the local area with a wide range of ages. They include Sam and Roy who run the Post Office between them. Roy is our longest serving member of staff and a stalwart of the team. In the shop, Colin, Joyce and Maureen have been with us for several years and relative newcomers are Jamie, Matt, Suzanne, Lynda and Louisa.

Apart from helping you in the shop or Post Office we are all happy to help with directions or information regarding the local area.

We are always happy to help out anyone who needs help and will gladly deliver shopping to local homes, boats or caravans if we are able to do so.

Do pop into our ‘TARDIS’, it’s quite impressive how much you can fit into a small space and are here to help!
